Clojure
Clojure is one of the most interesting programming languages on the JVM (and the .NET CLR, and JavaScript)! It’s a functional language in the LISP family, dynamically typed – with optional type hints for performance/optimization. As a functional programming language Clojure gives you the desired power and expressibility to solve your everyday problems by adding the right amount of high level abstractions, and at the same time the immense joy of writing beautiful code. As a JVM-language you get the added benefits of the Java ecosystem, performance and available libraries.
The course
You can catch a glimpse on some learning outcomes from Brian Marick’s Top-Down TDD in Clojure Demo. To quote from Brian’s own description:
The course is two days. It’s loosely structured. It consists of my demonstrating how I’d [Brian] solve a problem, Randori Kata where everyone works on a problem, individual pairs working on a problem, all punctuated by discussions of issues and questions that come up during the day.
We will use Clojure 1.2.x, and will try to pair up less experienced developers with more experienced so everybody gets an ability to learn this fantastic language! If you want a head start, check out the tutorials at learn-clojure.com
The course is open to everyone, however there are limited number of seats. You can RSVP to me on Twitter: @olecr or by email.
